Building Sustainability
Endowments represent the future of UNCG Athletics. Endowments allow alumni and friends to have a lasting impact on the lives of student-athletes by establishing a legacy to strengthen UNCG Athletics now and in the future. Through the campaign, we seek to grow endowed funds in three key areas:
- Student-Athlete Scholarships: Our campaign goal is to double the scholarship endowment to $15 million.
- Sport-Specific Operating Funds: Through the campaign, we seek to raise $1.5 million in sport-specific endowments.
- Sustaining Success Endowment: Sustainable funding for incentives and bonuses to recruit, retain, and reward the most talented coaches for all 17 UNCG teams.
Enhancing Facilities
Top-notch sport programs need top-notch facilities. Through the campaign, you can help us make strategic investments in UNCG’s most competitive programs to raise the standard and give our coaches the best opportunity to maximize our student-athletes’ abilities. You can provide the facilities required to train and compete in the Southern Conference, with updates such as soccer stadium enhancements, baseball stadium upgrades, softball stadium renovations, and a multi-sport team meeting room — which would provide a facility with tiered, movie-theater-style seating for student-athletes across all programs to do film study.
Powering the Spartan Athletic Scholarship Fund
Intercollegiate Athletics is a leader in giving students from underrepresented backgrounds the opportunity to receive a great education while pursuing their athletic dreams. The Spartan Athletic Scholarship Fund is the primary vehicle to provide our hard-working student-athletes with tuition, room, and board. The Spartan Fund is essential to delivering a winning combination of athletic and academic excellence. Currently, endowment distributions cover less than 10% of annual scholarship costs, leaving annual gifts and general Athletic Department operating dollars to bridge the gap. Your generosity can help us achieve the target of $4 million for this initiative — $1 million per year by the campaign’s conclusion.
