Honor a Spartan through Light the Way online “luminaires”
Here’s a chance to call attention to Spartans who are lighting the way.
Inspired by UNCG’s annual tradition of luminaires throughout campus on Reading Day in December, Giving Tuesday 2021 provides a perfect chance to honor those who were meaningful – or are currently meaningful – in your experience at UNCG.
With a donation of any size, alumni, students, and all other members of the UNCG community may recognize someone with a digital luminaire, placing the honoree’s name on a virtual honor wall.
Recognize those who’ve gone above and beyond in inspiring students or paving a path for student success.
Perhaps it’s a professor who made an impact on your life and career …. a Housekeeping staff member who made a great impact … a student whose service or leadership currently goes above and beyond … a lecturer whose time spent preparing outstanding projects has been truly inspiring.
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement, encouraging gifts of time and treasure on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. UNCG’s Giving Tuesday initiative begins on Nov. 30 and will coincide with the annual lighting of the luminaires on Dec. 2.
This fundraising initiative – part of the University’s Light the Way comprehensive campaign – is designed to encourage participation in the campaign.
To make this very accessible – particularly for students – there is no gift minimum. We only ask that each donor be as generous as they are able.
All gifts during this initiative will be recognized on the luminaires “honor wall” – with all donors receiving a message they may forward, if they choose, to their honoree, to let them know how valued they are. It’s a welcome gesture, particularly for this time of thanksgiving.
The SAFE Fund will undoubtedly be a popular choice, as it provides funds for students in need at this time. On the Giving Tuesday site, see the various ways you can direct your gifts.
Honor those who shine bright, at UNCG.
